SWU Recommended Records

There have been some records that I wanted to recommend to SWU members, friends and like-minded people for a while now but it is only yet that I come to do so. Therefor, I pick some of the rather newer releases. For some strange reasons, they come in pairs in most cases... Anyway, have a look (and listen):

Artist: Chris & Cosey
Title: Songs Of Love & Lust
Label: Conspiracy International
Catalog#: CTILP009

Artist: Chris & Cosey
Title: Exotika
Label: Conspiracy International
Catalog#: CTILP016

Preview / Buy

Good news for all late-borns and collectors: after the re-release of Chris & Cosey's "Heartbeat" and "Trance" LPs by Conspiracy International, the label also brought back these two great LPs from 1984 and 1987. Awesome songs with funky electronic grooves that somehow are soothing and cold at the same time - certainly not to be missed by EBM and Synth-pop addicts.

Artist: Emptyset Feat. Cornelius Harris
Title: Altogether Lost
Label: CLR
Catalog#: CLR042

Preview / Buy

Artist: Tommy Four Seven
Title: Armed 3 / Ratu
Label: CLR
Catalog#: CLR043

Preview / Buy

I loved the experimental and noisy Emptyset LP from 2009 but what they came up with here is really a surprise: Cornelius Harris of Underground Resistance is preaching over harsh Emptyset grooves - and it definitely blows you out of your socks! And while you're at it, also check out the Tommy Four Seven release, also on Chris Liebing's CLR imprint, for more of these noisy Industrial Techno tracks.

Artist: UNLTD
Title: Billion Black EP
Label: Borrowed Language
Catalog#: BLX-1

Artist: UNLTD / Israel Vines
Title: Distance No Object EP
Label: Borrowed Language
Catalog#: BLX-2

This is a new and quite promising label. The first release is very experimental and lo-fi, it drifts between somewhat Dupstep- and Techno-like broken beats. In another world, this could have been an Autechre record. The second one consists of two heavy broken-beat Techno tracks and two beatless soundscapes. Very dark and sinister and for fans of British Murder Boys / Surgeon, Perc, Stroboscopic Artifacts, Prologue and the like.

Artist: The End Of All Existence
Title: The End Of All Existence
Label: The End Of All Existence
Catalog#: END 000

Artist: The End Of All Existence
Title: The Final Hours
Label: The End Of All Existence
Catalog#: END 111

Preview / Buy

This is a side-project of Milton Bradley, known for his Do Not Resist The Beat! label. DNRTB! records have this dark and stripped-down Techno vibe that is often referred to as 'Berghain Techno'. This label here is similar in terms of sound but it leaves the straight Techno groove behind and goes directly for abstract sound and beat sculptures. I like some of the DNRTB! stuff but I find this new project more interesting, also more interesting then the much hyped Raim releases. Fans of Demdike Stare should listen up as well.

Artist: The Great Traitor
Title: The Great Traitor
Label: Remnant Records
Catalog#: rmn 001

Preview / Buy

And another power-blast of Breakbeat-Techno. It is packed with samples of number stations. If you liked the records above, you will also like this one. On the B side is a deep and atmospheric Monolake remix as well, so no reason to hesitate here, really.
